Parto da Viola is a modernist piece by the Portuguese artist, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso. Hailing from Amarante in northern Portugal, Amadeo is a somewhat lesser-known, albeit extraordinary, painter. He is also the first Portuguese artist to be featured by Curator Socks.

At first glance, Parto da Viola may appear random and chaotic but upon further interpretation transmits imagination, emotion, and symbolism. It is a true delight for the senses, with its design delivering a sensory experience to the viewer. The keyhole stimulating the gaze, the viola, sound, and the strawberry, taste.

Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso was a pioneer for modernism in Portugal and Europe. His exhibitions in the USA were received with renowned success, sparking the beginning of a prominent international career. Sadly, Amadeo passed away at the age of 30, as a result of the Spanish flu. His work and legacy went forgotten for many decades until recent years, where it is now beginning to receive the international acclamation it deserves.
