A new design approach to transform one of the most iconic artworks into a knitted masterpiece.
The Creation of Adam is a fresco painting by Italian artist Michelangelo, part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling which took about three weeks to complete.
It illustrates the Biblical creation narrative in which God gives life to Adam, the first man, who sits alone looking toward God, portrayed as an old man.
In the centre, where the hands of Adam and God almost touch, Adam looks up to God, showing little emotion, passively, which is seen in the way his hand is bent. God, however, struggles to reach Adam which is translated in his posture.
This panel, like the ceiling as a whole, helped to cement Michaelangelo’s reputation as one of the greatest artists in the world.
